Clemson Sports Illustrated 2019 - Special Championship Commemorative Issue Clemson Wins College
The College Football Playoff featured a familiar matchup in its 2018-19 championship game, with Clemson and Alabama having faced off twice before in tight battles. But there was nothing familiar about this most recent result: the Tide suffered its worst loss in program history under coach Nick Saban, having been mauled by the Tigers 44-16. Clemson became the first major college team in 121 years to finish 15-0 and, with a 55-4 record over the last four seasons, laid claim to being the best program in the country.
Sports Illustrated's CFP special championship edition celebrates the heroes of the Tigers' season with in-depth features on true freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence, super sophomore back Travis Etienne and the all-world defensive line unit of Austin Bryant, Clelin Ferrell, Dexter Lawrence and Christian Wilkins. The tribute looks back on coach Dabo Swinney's 10 years at the helm as well as the top moments of the 2018 season. The dominant Cotton Bowl victory over Notre Dame and the complete destruction of Alabama in the BCS final are highlighted through SI's trademark photography and on-the-scene reporting.
